On April 19, the launching ceremony of the prefabricated houses donated by Suzhou City to Fray Bentos, Uruguay, a friendly exchange city, was held in Suzhou. Vice Mayor Ji Jing attended the event.
The 40 prefabricated houses donated free of charge by Suzhou City will be used to improve the living conditions of some local residents in Uruguay. These prefabricated houses are manufactured by a company in Wujiang. Each room is about 18 square meters, equivalent to the size of a bedroom. The panels are lightweight, easy to assemble, and are fireproof and waterproof. The prefabricated houses are scheduled to be shipped from Shanghai at the end of April this year. After arriving in Uruguay, they will be assembled locally according to demand.
Before the launching ceremony, Vice Mayor Ji Jing met with Marcelo Marron, Consul General of Uruguay in Shanghai, to discuss exchanges and cooperation between sister cities.
